BHI is proud to sponsor the 2017 PrimeTime Sports Business Case Competition (Competition). The Competition will take place at the 10th annual PrimeTime Sports Management Conference and Trade Show (Conference). Co-chaired by Calgary Flames’ President of Hockey Operations, Brian Burke, and Governor of the London Knights, Trevor Whiffen, the Conference is the largest sport management conference held in Canada each year.
The Competition provides an outstanding opportunity for students pursuing careers in the sports and entertainment industry. Not only will teams make presentations before judges who are leading executives and academics in the world of sports and entertainment, but students will also have an opportunity to network with these industry leaders.
Students will see Keynote Interviews with Rene Fasel, the Executive Director of the International Ice Hockey Federation, and Commissioner Gary Bettman of the NHL, as well as panel discussions covering a wide range of topics including league operations, player evaluations, legal issues in sport, challenges facing amateur sport, and a player agent round table to discuss contract negotiations.
The Conference will also feature the Business of Hockey Institute’s presentation of its Honorary Certified Hockey Professional (CHP) designation, which is awarded to an individual in the hockey industry who epitomizes the qualities, capabilities, and accomplishments desired by existing and future CHPs.
